A real bird turned up on my birdbath to share it with the two plastic versions brought over from Australia (don't tell customs). A test run with lotus flowers for our new pons area.
Gaun made a dawn raid on a local farm pond (with permission) to take some of their lotus plants. Here she has cut off all the stems, leaving the central core to be replanted.
When in flower they look like this.
The lotus in clay bought at a local gardening centre, at home to see if they will take to a new situation. I suspect they will be near impossible to kill.
In the meantime, we added a new lily plant to the pond today. The photo taken in the late afternoon, so the flower had closed up. I will report back.
